Oxford firefighters went door-to-door to properties bordering the Housatonic River to warn residents of potential flooding Thursday night.
The firefighters followed safety protocols after the National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for the region about 8 p.m. Thursday.
The National Weather Service then issued a flood warning for the Housatonic River at the Stevenson Dam.
At 5 p.m. the river was at 7 feet.
At 11:16 p.m. it was at 11.3 feet, just above its 11 feet “minor” flooding level.
Residents on the Oxford side of the Housatonic were advised to remove items — such as vehicles — away from areas known to flood.
