St. Paul’s Celebrates Girl Scout Sunday

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on the Huntington Green held a Girl Scout Sunday service last month in honor of International Girl Scout Sunday.

Girl Scouts and their families gathered in the parish hall and proceeded down to the chapel for a service designed by Girl Scout Leader Dawn Barber and led completely by Girl Scouts.

It was an inter-denominational service, which included poems, prayers, songs and Scriptures hand-picked to highlight the values of the Scouts. The service also recognized the scouts who have participated in the God and Country extended learning programs.

Following the service, the congregation, led by the older scouts, proceeded back up to the parish hall were they made 5 different SWAPs as mementos of the day. Snacks were also shared during the festivities after the service. To close the event, the Girl Scouts made a Girl Scout circle and sang Make New Friends.”

Following the service, coordinator Dawn Barber said, I so love this gathering! This service is for ALL Girl Scouts… it’s an inspiring, inter-generational event!”
