The cases against a Derby man accused of two stabbings was transferred Tuesday to Superior Court in Milford.
That’s where the judicial district of Ansonia-Milford hears more serious cases.
Stephan Coney, 19, is charged with first-degree assault and second-degree threatening in connection to a stabbing on July 8 outside Over the Hill Tavern on Hawkins Street.
He is also charged with first-degree reckless endangerment and second-degree threatening in connection to the May 19 stabbing of a 19-year-old man on Hawkins Street near Cottage Street.
Both victims survived.
Property seized by Derby police provided a bevy of physical evidence – including a knife – against Coney in connection to the July stabbing, according to court documents.
The seized property includes Air Jordan sneakers with blood spatter and bloody clothing belonging to the victim.
Police initially hit roadblocks in their investigation of the two stabbings because the victims were reluctant to talk, according to warrants used to arrest Coney last month.
The first victim did not want to press charges against Coney, until the second victim started talking to police.
The two victims knew each other, police said.
Coney’s next court date is Sept. 8 in Milford.
