The state bond commission Friday authorized the release of $800,000 to build a road that will lead to the development of land behind BJ’s Wholesale off Division Street.
City officials want to see a commerce park be developed on roughly 27 acres near the Derby Greenway, also known as the Riverwalk.
“We want to do everything we can to help create jobs in Derby,” Gov. M . Jodi Rell said in a prepared statement. “The development of the Commerce Park will bring in new businesses to the Naugatuck Valley. This project can potentially create 150 new jobs and bring in $22.5 million in private investments.”
