Gov. Ned Lamont held a press conference in Ansonia earlier this month to highlight the state’s support of local redevelopment efforts. That’s state Rep. Nicole Klarides-Ditria and state Sen. George Cabrera behind him.

HARTFORD — Members of the state bond commission are expected to vote Friday (July 23) on whether to give $2 million to Ansonia for the redevelopment and adaptive reuse of the Ansonia Copper & Brass Extrusion Mill facility.

We are making meaningful progress in the economic redevelopment of our community,” Rep. Kara Rochelle said in a prepared statement July 16. These would be the first major state funds secured to renovate and revitalize the Ansonia Copper & Brass site, which has been a priority of mine for many years.”

This additional $2 million for Ansonia Brass is a game changer! On top of the nearly $1.5 million already secured for Ansonia we are well on our way to moving Ansonia forward,” state Sen. Jorge Cabrera said in the same prepared statement.

The City of Ansonia is working on a plan to breathe new life into the old Ansonia Copper & Brass site. Click here for a January 2021 story on a plan for the area.

Friday’s bond commission meeting is scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m. It is scheduled to be carried live on www.CT‑N.com.
