State Education Commissioner To Speak At Derby High School Graduation

The Derby High School’s Commencement ceremony will be held on June 18, 2015 at 6 p.m. at Ryan Field.

In the event of inclement weather the graduation ceremony will be moved to the Derby High School gymnasium.

The school’s valedictorian is Christopher Diaz and the salutatorian is Patrycja Drozdz.

Christopher will be heading to Cornell University in the fall and Patrycja will be headed to the University of Connecticut.

The keynote speaker will be Dianna R. Wentzell, the state’s commissioner of education.

Wentzell has a bachelor’s degree in Russian studies from Mount Holyoke College, a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, and a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Hartford.

Wentzell was appointed as Commission of Education by Governor Dannel P. Malloy in April 2015.
