State Rep. Themis Klarides faces a familiar foe in her re-election campaign this year — the same man she defeated in 2012 and 2014.
Woodbridge resident Aldon Hynes isn’t under any illusions about his chances for success about the leader of the state house’s Republican caucus.

In an interview with the New Haven Register, he conceded his chances for success are “very slight” but that it’s important to give people a choice.
“After the past two cycles, if anybody asked me if I won, I’ve told them: ‘I didn’t get elected but I won by giving people a choice,’” he told the Register, saying that a lack of civility was the biggest issue he’s campaigning on.
Hynes is the social media manager for the Community Health Center in Middletown and is the nominee of the Working Families Party.

Klarides is seeking her 10th term, and also works in the Orange office of Cohen and Wolf, a Bridgeport-based law firm.
She told the Register the biggest issue facing the state is the budget.
“The circumstance the state is in is beyond bad,” she said. “And it’s gotten worse.”
