UPDATE: Gun Fired During Oxford Fight

UPDATE: State police released a press release Monday afternoon saying a search warrant had been served on the house in question and weapons were seized.

This story was originally published at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 30.

The owner of a house where shots were fired early Sunday says he wasn’t home when the incident happened.

Ed Lyons, Jr. owns the single-family home at 426 Roosevelt Drive where a weekend party held by his children apparently got out of hand.

At some point during the party a fight broke out — and someone fired a gun, police said.

No one was struck by the bullet, but several people required treatment at Griffin Hospital for injuries related to the fight.

Lyons said he was away in Massachusetts during the shindig. He was told a dispute broke out and someone fired a fun into the air.

Lyons didn’t know who fired the weapon or why.

State police from Troop A are investigating the incident, with help from Oxford police.

Two brothers from Naugatuck have been charged with disorderly conduct, police said — and a judge Monday ordered the men to stay away from each other.

The brothers were identified as Kyle Dojnia, 19, of 179 Scott St. and Greg Donjia, 20, of 122 Lewis St.

The judge also ordered substance abuse evaluations for both men.

Both brothers posted $500 bonds and are due back in court Oct. 8.

No one has been charged with firing a gun.

State police said more information may be available later Monday.

Lyons, meanwhile, said he’s busy dealing with the party’s aftermath.

Everything is pretty filthy and I’m cleaning up the house,” he said.
