SEYMOUR — A 31-year-old Shelton man was killed in a motorcycle crash on Route 8 north Tuesday morning.
Andrew Chapin was driving his Kawasaki motorcycle in the highway’s left lane near exit 21 in Seymour at about 8 a.m. when he veered toward the right lane road shoulder. He was thrown from the bike and was pronounced dead a short time later at Waterbury Hospital, according to police.
Police are trying to piece together what caused the fatal crash. Any witnesses or people with information are asked to call state Trooper P.J. Cormier at 203 393 4200 or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
Police are also searching for video footage. They ask that anyone who was in the area at the time of the crash with a dashboard camera contact Trooper Cormier.

SEYMOUR — State police are investigating a crash with serious injuries on Route 8 north in Seymour.
The northbound lanes of the highway were closed in the area of exit 21 as of 8:30 a.m. Tuesday (Nov. 9). Traffic was being diverted off the highway at exit 19. State police, in a social media post, advised motorists to find alternate routes.
The DOT reported the highway was open at about 11:15 a.m.
