State police are investigating a serious crash that happened 6:20 p.m. Friday on Route 8 south in Shelton.
WFSB reported one person was dead and two injured.
Initial radio transmissions indicated a car rolled over and that a patient was trapped inside the wreckage.
A “SHARPS” team was apparently sent to the scene. SHARP stands for “Sponsor Hospital Area Response.”
They’re a group of EMS-trained attending physicians from Yale New Haven Health who can give expanded patient care on high-risk calls and prolonged extrications.
Police had not released any details as of Saturday morning.
The wreck happened near exit 12.
