State Police Investigate Serious Wreck In Seymour

SEYMOUR — State police are asking for the public’s help in investigating a serious crash on Route 8 Saturday.

According to an accident summary sent by state troopers, Brian Vincent, 52, of Shelton, was traveling south on Route 8 about a mile past the exit 22 in a 2008 Volkswagen Jetta when he lost control of the vehicle, veered off the highway, then struck a chain-link fence and a utility pole before flipping over on Cedar Street, a road parallel to Route 8.

State police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to contact Trooper Bavolacco at 203 393 4200 or gina.bavolacco@ct.gov.

According to the post, Vincent was ejected from the vehicle. State police said Vincent suffered suspected serious injury.” He was taken to Bridgeport Hospital. Information on his condition wasn’t available Sunday afternoon.

The crash was reported about 3 p.m.

Police are also looking for anyone driving through the area who may have captured video on dashboard cameras.

Police did not indicate what may have caused the crash. The accident summary noted the road was dry and there was moderate traffic on Route 8 at the time.

Cedar Street along with Route 8 southbound at exit 22 were closed and traffic was rerouted through downtown Seymour for approximately 4 hours,” according to Citizens’ Engine Co. No. 2.
