State Rep. Rochelle Attends White House Forum On Child Care

State Rep. Kara Rochelle was at The White House earlier this week.

State Rep. Kara Rochelle recently attended a White House policy convening on childcare with First Lady Dr. Jill Biden and members of the Biden administration.

Of the more than 7,500 state legislators across the country, Rep. Rochelle and 89 others were handpicked to discuss how legislatures can improve childcare for families, with a focus on making childcare more affordable, expanding access to childcare, and how to strengthen the sector’s workforce.

As Vice Chair of the Higher Education & Employment Advancement Committee in Connecticut, developing our childcare workforce and supporting this industry, so that kids and families can thrive, is a high priority to me. We must continue to make advancements on this issue,” Rep. Rochelle said. Bringing together some of the top leaders across the country to discuss solutions, share ideas, and develop policies was inspiring. I’m grateful to have been tasked with this opportunity, as I’m passionate about supporting our children, families, and childcare workers.”

Speaker of the House Matt Ritter, who nominated Rep. Rochelle to attend the summit, called her a tireless advocate for our children,” adding that her commitment to helping our youth, and those who care for them, made her a great fit for this policy convening.”

Rep. Rochelle represents the 104th District, which includes Ansonia and Derby.
