Kane is seeking his fifth term representing the 32nd District.
Cava, a real estate lawyer, told the News-Times of Danbury that the state must spend more on education, infrastructure, and seniors.
“We must protect our seniors to keep them in their homes and make their retirement more secure by (a) ending state income taxation of social security benefits/income, (b) make it easier for seniors to freeze their property taxes to defer the payment of increases until their home is sold, and © strengthen the social services our seniors rely upon,” Cava said in an email to the News-Times.

“By using our strengths — a bright, innovative and highly skilled work force, livable communities, incomparable educational institutions, and common sense Yankee ingenuity – we will make Connecticut the best place to start a business and raise a family,” it reads.
Kane said lawmakers in Hartford should focus on balancing the state budget.
“My priority is the budget,” Kane said in an email to the News-Times. “As the ranking Republican member I have a great knowledge and understanding of the (state) budget and want to work on reducing spending, shrinking the size of government and getting the economy going through stronger fiscal management.”
