State Senator To Stop In Seymour Sept. 17

Sen. Rob Kane on Tuesday, Sept. 17 will visit Yesterday’s Luxuries, a Seymour-based antiques dealer to raise awareness about a new Connecticut law which establishes a statewide Connecticut Antiques Trail.”

Sen. Kane will visit the 27 Bank Street business at 11:30 a.m.

The new law, which Sen. Kane sponsored, aims to promote antiques shops throughout the state with road signs, notices and web advertisements.

The statewide marketing campaign will be modeled after a trail already in existence in Woodbury. It was established in 2009 when Sen. Kane, at the request of a constituent, worked with the state Department of Transportation to erect signs on Interstate 84 to promote antiques shops off the highway.

We have antiques dealers in all corners of our state,” Sen. Kane said. It makes sense for us to promote these unique, small businesses and get them the attention they deserve.”

Sen. Kane likens the Connecticut Antiques Trail” to the Connecticut Wine Trail, which promotes vineyards with road signs.

*Sen. Kane (www.senatorkane.com) represents the 32nd district of Bethlehem, Bridgewater, Middlebury, Oxford, Seymour, Southbury, Roxbury, Washington, Watertown, and Woodbury.
