First Selectwoman Mary Ann Drayton-Rogers has not yet filed a formal complaint with state police against Tax Collector Karen Guillet.
However, Drayton-Rogers said Monday a formal complaint is still in the works.
Guillet, tax collector in town for 24 years, was placed on paid sick leave Jan. 13 by Drayton-Rogers following an anonymous allegation to the First Selectwoman about money missing from the Tax Collector’s department.
Guillet has hired an attorney and refused to take her sick pay.
Drayton-Rogers said a formal complaint is coming, but is delayed in filing because the detective working with the town called in sick Monday.
“Once the detective is back to work there will be a meeting and the town will move forward,” the Drayton-Rogers said.
State Police Lt. Paul Vance declined comment.
Oxford hired accountants Michaud and Accavallo of Ansonia, the town’s auditors, to conduct an audit of bank deposit activity from the Tax Collector’s department dating back to July 2009.
The audit has been expanded to include 2008 since the investigation started earlier this month.
The Board of Selectmen Jan. 20 appointed Sharon Scinto as interim tax collector and hired an assistant tax collector June Coburn.
