Shelton police found a stolen car Sunday night, and it led them to arrest a woman they claim was involved in a robbery at knife point.
Police charged Faijoli (Faith) Brooks, of 19 Derby Ave., Derby, with first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, third-degree larceny and fourth-degree larceny, according to a statement released by Detective Ben Trabka.
Brooks and another unidentified suspect allegedly entered an elderly man’s downtown apartment on Oct. 13, and threatened him with a knife, according to Trabka.
Police also accused Brooks of stealing the car — which was reported missing after being left parked and running in the downtown area Sunday morning.
Officer Christopher Nugent found the stolen car parked on Myrtle Street Sunday evening, according to the police statement. He set up a surveillance of the area and used the department’s canine, Jager, to follow the scent from the car. The canine tracked the scent to Brooks, according to police.
Police had an outstanding warrant to arrest Brooks for the knife-point robbery, according to Trabka.
Police also found a crack pipe and a small amount of crack cocaine in Brook’s possession, and charged her with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
She was held on a $109,500 bond, and was scheduled to be arraigned at Superior Court in Derby Monday.
Police are still investigating the knife-point robbery, and said they expect more arrests in the case.
