Stratford Man Accused Of Sex Assault In Shelton

Shelton police charged a Stratford man with second-degree sexual assault in connection to a complaint from an underage girl.

The complaint dates back to 2008, but police had been unable to locate the suspect, Michael Capogrosso, 28, until this week, according to police.

In a prepared statement, Lt. Robert Kozlowsky said Capogrosso engaged in non-consensual intercourse” with a 15-year-old girl in his apartment in 2008.

He then apparently left the state for a time, according to police, then returned.

U.S. Marshals helped Shelton police track the suspect down and he was found at an undisclosed location in Connecticut.

He was arrested Thursday (Sept. 4) on a warrant and was scheduled to be arraigned in Superior Court in Derby today (Friday, Sept. 5).
