Stratford Man Charged With Attempted Burglary In Shelton

Shelton police arrested a 35-year-old Stratford man Monday for allegedly trying to break into a house on Walnut Tree Hill Road.

David Sullivan is charged with third-degree attempted burglary, fourth-degree criminal mischief and third-degree criminal trespass.

According to a written statement from police, Sullivan rang a doorbell at a house on Walnut Tree Hill Road. A woman inside the house didn’t answer — but her dog barked.

The woman apparently watched as Sullivan then walked to a neighbor’s house and tried to force the front door open.

The witness called police.

Officer Mary Beth White spotted Sullivan in the back yard, police said, where Sullivan had tried to open a back door and window.

Sullivan is being held on a $20,000 bond pending a March 19 court date in Superior Court in Derby.

Police ask that any suspicious activity in neighborhoods be reported quickly using 911 or 203 – 924-1544.
