Stratford Man Cited In River Road Crash

Police ticketed a Stratford man after a River Road accident during Monday’s rush hour that sent him and a Shelton man to the hospital.

Lt. Robert Kozlowsky said the Stratford man, Alexander Vogt, 22, was driving north on River Road about 4:45 p.m. Monday when he arrived at 219 River Road and stopped to turn left into the driveway.

Meanwhile, Kozlowsky said, Edward Martin, 48, was driving south on the road when he saw Vogt turning into the driveway. Martin told police he could not stop his car in time and hit Vogt.

Both vehicles were towed due to extensive damage, Kozlowsky said, and both men were sent to the hospital for unspecified injuries.

Police issued Vogt a ticket for failure to grant the right of way to oncoming traffic while turning left.

Kozlowsky said emergency crews cleared the scene about 5:30 p.m., 45 minutes after the crash.
