Skate for good!
Skaters for Strength — led by High School students Meredith Lenti and Emily Fitzpatrick — will be hosting a public skate event on Friday, March 14 from 4:30 — 5:20 pm at the Rinks at Shelton.
All proceeds will go to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. For an entry fee of $20, each person will receive skate rentals and skating time.
Meredith Lenti and Emily Fitzpatrick have been nominated for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) 2025 Greater Connecticut Student Visionaries of the Year campaign.
Student Visionaries of the Year is a seven-week leadership development program that runs through March 21st, 2025, to raise money to help blood cancer patients not only survive but thrive after treatment.
Meredith and Emily have created a team, Skaters for Strength, with committed friends and family to partner with them on this journey. Meredith and Emily met at the Rinks at Shelton through their love of figure skating and have been close friends and teammates for many years.
Meredith is a Junior at St. Joseph High School in Trumbull and lives in Shelton. Emily is a Junior at Oxford High School and lives in Oxford.
The money raised helps LLS, the largest nonprofit dedicated to creating a world without blood cancers, fund research to advance lifesaving treatments, drive advocacy for policies that protect patient access to these treatments, and provide patients and families with hope, guidance, education, and support. Skaters for Strength is particularly passionate about research and will be representing this area of LLS during their campaign.
