SEYMOUR — Project Purple’s Pass the Torch campaign, which was started to replace the cancelled events during the Covid-19 pandemic, has just passed its one-year anniversary.
The goal of the campaign is to raise awareness to the public about pancreatic cancer through people recording how many miles they walk, jog, and run.
For the program’s second year, Project Purple wants participants to run a collective 60,430 miles, one mile for every person who is diagnosed with pancreatic cancer this year.
Participants can register for free on projectpurple.org, can choose to fundraise, and are asked to log every mile they walk, jog, or run daily.
There are currently 113 participants in 27 states and three countries, including Australia and Brazil, who have raised $3,602 and have run 7,902 miles.
