It has been an amazing year for Shelton Robotics!
The Shelton High School Robotics team had much success as the FRC Groton District Champions, New England Regional FRC Champions, & Curie Division tournament competitors in the FIRST World Championship FRC event in St. Louis, MO.
The Shelton Middle School Robotics Program has also had great success! The Perry Hill Dominators were selected the Shelton FLL Grand Champions, Connecticut State FLL Champions, and participants in the North American Open FLL Championships in Carlsbad, CA.
These teams of students have worked diligently to help spread the excitement of Science and Technology throughout their schools and community.
In addition to their numerous accomplishments on the playing field, the teams have also participated in many community service activities and local volunteer events. Their commitment to the Robotics program goes far beyond the nuts and bolts of building and programming.
In addition to the Shelton Board of Education, the teams are sponsored by local technology companies UTC Sikorsky, OEM Controls, Pitney Bowes, Boeing, Intuitive Surgical, Haydon Kerk and Barnum Engineered Systems who provide financial and mentor support throughout the year. The students are grateful for the support and hundreds of volunteer hours given by their dedicated mentors and teachers.
As a result of their involvement within the community, the Shelton Robotics program has been the recipient of grants from the Valley Community Foundation, Shelton High School PTSO, and the Shelton High School Father’s Club.
The opportunity for others to help support the Robotics program is now available through the Valley Community Foundation Great Give 2014 online giving campaign. Donors to the program have the opportunity to have their monetary donations matched by the Foundation and to also help the teams receive incentive prizes for participation.
Supporters who are interested in sponsoring the team can participate in the 36 hour long giving campaign by logging onto the website at: www.thegreatgive.org on May 6th & 7th, 2014. Nearly $150,000 in matching and prize money will be awarded to those non-profit organizations who participate.
Please consider being a part of this incredible program by supporting the Shelton Robotics team annual fundraising campaign through the Great Give 2014.
