SEYMOUR — UPDATE: Man stole a police car, according to Waterbury PD.
A suspected car thief was apprehended in Seymour early Wednesday.
The police department posted on Facebook at 4:30 a.m. saying they were looking for man who stole a car in Waterbury then left it at the rotary at the intersection of Great Hill Road and Holbrook Road.
The incident triggered a manhunt involving the Waterbury Police Department, Seymour Police Department, Oxford police and state police. Fire department personnel and EMS crews, along with residents who called in tips to police, were also involved.
Police searched buildings, used a tracking dog, and even a drone in the search.
The Facebook post and subsequent comment did not say where the suspect was found, but stated he was taken back to Waterbury for processing.
