The bays at the Echo Hose Ambulance Corp. headquarters on Meadow Street are filled with furniture, games, sporting equipment and antiques.
The volunteer emergency responders there are hoping the items will translate into money to donate to a local 9‑year-old boy with leukemia.
Saturday, the Echo Hose Ambulance Corp. will host an eight-hour tag sale to raise money for Isiais Valentin, a fourth grader at Lafayette School who has leukemia.
For weeks, Echo Hose has collected donated items – ranging from a glass-top stove to a dining room table – to sell at the tag sale.
They have also accepted cash donations toward the fund. Checks can be made out to the Isiais Valentin Fundraiser and mailed to Kate Nappi Miller at 19 Amber Drive in Seymour, or dropped off Saturday.
The tag sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the ambulance building at 100 Meadow St. Any leftover items will be donated to the Salvation Army.
“We’ve always helped people in the community for different things, whether it’s been for charitable work or sponsoring families,” said Assistant Chief Joseph Laucella. “We have not gone to this extent before. This is a really large event.”
“We have a whole bay filled with stuff,” Laucella said. “You can’t even walk in there.”
Laucella said the money raised will help the family with any future costs that arise.
