Tanker Overturns, Fuel Spills Out, Traffic Clogged

A tanker truck flipped on its side while turning onto a bridge on Route 34 Monday morning, sending fuel onto the street and into the Naugatuck River below.

No details on how the crash happened, the name of the trucking company, or the condition of the driver were available. Presumably police are still investigating.

The crash caused major traffic delays for the morning rush hour. Firefighters responded to the scene about 8 a.m.

Environmental crews from the state responded to the scene as well.
