Police Release Name Of Boy Shot In Shelton

A 15-year-old Shelton High School student was still in critical condition Monday at Bridgeport Hospital after being shot on Agawam Trail Saturday night.

The boy was indentified Monday morning as Kristjan Ndoj, a sophomore at Shelton High School.

Police said the teen went with a friend to the area Saturday night to visit other friends, though they do not know the exact circumstances that led to Kristjan being shot twice, in the head and in the arm.

His injuries were described by police as life-threatening.

Shelton Police Lt. Robert Kozlowsky said at a press conference Monday morning that detectives focused Sunday on processing the scene where Ndoj was shot and said the priority Monday would be to do re-interviews, talk to people, and figure out why and who.”

Kozlowsky said police have seized evidence in the case but did not go into detail about what kind of evidence was seized.

There have been no arrests.

Police received a 911 call at about 8:45 p.m. Saturday reporting a shooting.

Kristjan was found lying in a driveway at 1 Agawam Trail. He’s a Shelton resident, but police said he did not live on the property where he was found.

Beth Smith, the Shelton High School headmaster, said on Twitter that a crisis team would be in place at the school Monday in case any students or staff needed assistance. A few extra police officers will be at the school as well.

Parents took to social media Sunday night to wonder why more details on the incident had not been released to the public, particularly since extra officers were being assigned to the high school.

Mark Holden, chairman of the Shelton Board of Education, explained the extra police presence in a Facebook post:

Police are being tight with information as it’s an ongoing investigation,” he said. We know of no reason to have extra concern for student safety, but extra police seems like a good idea.”

At the press conference, Smith said she asked for more security to show that we want to ensure a very safe environment at the high school.” She said there have been no threats to the school or any students or staff there.

Our thoughts and prayers go out from the Shelton High School community to Kristjan and his family,” Smith said. This is a very somber day at Shelton High School.”

Shelton students used Twitter to create a hashtag asking people to pray for the boy and his family.

The State Police Major Crime Squad was called in to assist the investigation.
