Two teens were charged with arson Sunday after allegedly breaking into an empty house on Partridge Road.
According to information from Ansonia police, firefighters were sent to 8 Partridge Road at about 10:45 a.m. after receiving a report of a house fire.
The house is in foreclosure and is vacant.
Neighbors told police that two teenage males were seen in the area at the time of the fire — and that one of the teens used to live in the house.
Police said they found the two suspects and noticed they both had soot on their faces.
“When questioned further the males admitted to being involved and were taken into custody,” according to a prepared statement from police.
The pair allegedly broke into the house and lit papers inside on fire.
The state Fire Marshal’s Office was contacted and assisted with the investigation.
The two suspects are: Collin Addiss, 18, of Ansonia, and Sean Patterson, 18, of Bridgeport.
They are charged with third-degree arson and third-degree burglary. They were scheduled to appear in court Dec. 16.
