Teens Charged In Oxford Vandalism Incidents

Police charged two teenagers in a string of vandalism incidents throughout Oxford last month.

An 18-year-old female from Seymour and a 17-year-old person surrendered at the state police Troop A barracks in Southbury Wednesday (April 18) on warrants in several cases.

Police did not specify if the 17-year-old was male or female.

Police said the 18-year-old was involved in damaging mailboxes on Somers Lane and Towantic Hill Road last month, in addition to throwing eggs at Great Oak Middle School and damaging plantings there.

Police said the 17-year-old was involved in the vandalism at the middle school and damaging mailboxes on Towantic Hill Road.

The 18-year-old was charged with two counts each of second-degree criminal mischief and conspiracy to commit second-degree criminal mischief, in addition to single counts of third-degree criminal mischief and conspiracy to commit third-degree criminal mischief. Specific charges against the 17-year-old were not available.

Both teens were released on $500 nonsurety bonds for appearances at Superior Court in Derby this month.
