Dear Editors and Derby Educators,
On Saturday, April 16th, we hosted the Annual Easter Event for the Children, on the Derby Green; and, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the Irving and Derby Middle School Students and some of the Derby Running Club — who volunteered to help. The students were tremendous; and, I am proud of them!
So, we had over 500 eggs to hide on the Green; but, the event was so well attended by children that we ran out! Well, the Students volunteered to give up some of their own eggs for the benefit of the children who arrived ‘after’ the egg hunt. Also, most amazing — the Teens enjoyed our Magician, Chris Lengyel; and, they participated in the show. Best of all, the Students sat with the little children to help with the Face Painting. I watched them so sweetly ask the children which design they wished. They patiently did the painting. The outcome was adorable.
Well, we have an active Calendar ahead. We look forward to working with the Community and especially Youth. I speak for the entire Commission as I relay that we would be happy to have them again.
