The Ansonia Harvest Festival Is Saturday

ANSONIA — The annual Ansonia Harvest Festival is scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday, Sept. 28) on Main Street from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The annual family-friendly event organized by the Ansonia Cultural Commission features live music, food vendors, crafters, a petting zoo, and a kids zone” with face painting and a bounce house.

The food trucks in attendance include Paradise Island, Southern Wings & Things, Snickering Coyote, Cassin Cafe and more.

New this year — a competition for “Ansonia’s Best Pizza,” which will happen at Veterans Park next to Ansonia City Hall at 253 Main St.

The city has been promoting the pizza battle on its Facebook page, so it promises to be quite the event. The judges are city officials plus various residents.

The contest is open to Ansonia-based restaurants.

There is also a free pumpkin-decorating contest for children. Decorated pumpkins can be dropped off by 12 p.m. Saturday at the main stage (stage 1) in front of Ansonia City Hall, according to a post on the city’s Facebook page.

The contest is judged by members of The Valley Arts Council.

“Pumpkins can be painted, carved, dressed in costumes, etc., and participants need to be sure their name and contact information is attached to their pumpkins for judging!” according to the city.

Musicians will perform on two stages this year.
