Blumenthal faces a challenge from Republican Dan Carter, a state representative from Fairfield County.
Blumenthal and Carter squared off in a debate organized by WFSB in October.

Congressional Races
In the 4th Congressional District, Greenwich resident Himes is seeking his fifth term.
His Republican challenger is state Rep. John Shaban, who has represented the communities of Easton, Redding, and Weston in Hartford since 2010.

The candidates faced off at an Oct. 23 debate in Wilton the candidates clashed over how to address issues like gun violence and healthcare, according to a recap by the CT Post.

It’s a race where Himes hopes to connect his Republican opponent to Donald Trump, according to the CT Mirror.
The Mirror has pointed out the money advantage the incumbent enjoyed over the challenger in July.
At another debate the next day in Stamford the candidates again differed on matters of foreign policy like the nuclear deal with Iran and the Trans Pacific Partnership trade deal.
Meanwhile, in the 3rd District, DeLauro is seeking her 13th term in the House.
Her Republican opponent is Shelton’s Angel Cadena, a Marine veteran and truck driver.

On his website, Cadena says that American civilization is at a “tipping point” and implores “liberty loving people” to “preserve for our future generations the greatest and most productive society of free individuals the world has ever known.”
In an Oct. 14 preview of the race in the New Haven Independent, Paul Bass noted the odds stacked against Cadena — with the state and federal GOP essentially writing off the district and the candidate himself busy driving a truck six of seven days every week.
