Good morning readers.
Election Day 2016 is here, as you may have noticed.
First, if you encounter a problem at the polls, the Connecticut Election Day Hotline is 1 – 866-733‑2463.
You can also report a problem by emailing .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
If you are not registered the vote, Connecticut offers same day registration for eligible residents. But you are strongly encouraged to do so sooner rather than later. Click here for more information from the Secretary of State.
Finding your polling place has never been easier, with Internet heavyweights Facebook and Google offering simple “find your polling place” features.
You can check to see if you’re registered by clicking here.
The polls opened at 6 a.m. today and will remain open until 8 p.m.
Valley residents on Twitter and Facebook reported brisk turnout Tuesday morning.
About 50 people were at Derby’s Irving School voting shortly after the polls opened (pictured above).
Seymour resident/journalism assistant professor Jodie Gil noted on Twitter she was the 249th person to vote at the Chatfield-LoPresti School by 6:45 a.m.

Regarding the Valley Indy’s election coverage today, we’ll be honest — it’s not going to be easy.
There are two questions on the ballot in Derby, eight in Ansonia, two in Seymour, and one in Shelton.
There are eight contested state races in Ansonia, Derby, Seymour and Shelton.
We’re a two-person staff, augmented by three freelance journalists tonight.
Readers will look elsewhere for the top-of-the-ticket results.
Our plan is put reporters at the Crisco/Gentile campaign headquarters and at the Logan/Jaumann headquarters. We’ll send two reporters to Seymour to cover Conroy v. Klarides-Ditria, and we’ll have a third reporter at Seymour Town Hall to get ballot question results.
We will attempt to link to other media outlets and other online sources for the races we cannot cover in person.
Because of its ability to quickly upload photos and video from the road, we will rely to some extent on our Facebook page to get info to the public.
Our Facebook address is Facebook.com/valleyindependentsentinel.
We will post election stories on ValleyIndy.org as soon as we are able.
An important note — getting race results locally can take a very long time.
We hope to go live on Facebook at some point tonight — 9 p.m.? 10 p.m.? 3 a.m.? — after polls close to talk about the election and the results.
Thanks, everyone!
