5. Shelton man charged with wife’s murder

Thomas Infante, 52, was charged with murder in September after allegedly murdering Lisa Infante, his wife of 27 years. The two were going through a divorce, police said. Lisa was a member of Echo Hose Ambulance in Shelton. Thomas is being held on a $1.5 million bond and his next court appearance is Jan. 26 in Milford.

4. Mom Dies, Toddler Injured After Car Crash In Shelton

Twenty-four-year-old Leigh Sabo of Shelton was killed after a head-on crash on Bridgeport Avenue in Shelton in mid-October. Her 1‑year-old daughter was not seriously injured. Sabo had worked at the Stop & Shop grocery store in Monroe, according to her obituary.

3. The Hops Company To Open in Derby

Our October preview of a beer garden opening near Lowe’s in Derby, at the site of the former Grassy Hill Lodge, was the third-most read story of the year.

2. Derby police investigate Ansonia man’s death

This was a story from February involving 19-year-old Josiah Bazil, an Ansonia High School grad who died suddenly while in a car on Route 34 in Derby. 

Josiah was an athlete while at Ansonia HS and subsequently became a young dad — police had indicated there may have been a medical issue involved in this incident.

1. Division Street Railroad Crossing To Be Closed For A Week

April story where we explained what was happening to a railroad crossing in Derby-Ansonia, and predicted a Mad Max like apocalypse.
