FRIDAY JUNE 29

Burlesque 2.Oh
Strand Theater Productions of Seymour presents Burlesque 2.Oh, a modern variety show. The performers are all volunteers, and all profits benefit the Strand Theater Restoration Fund. There will be a special guest appearance by Seymour First Selectman Kurt Miller. Doors open 30 minutes before each show. Call 203 – 400-4625 for tickets.

Teen Balance” Summer Reading Club (for ages 12 – 17)
A variety of programs will be offered to teach teens how to balance their busy lives. Members select, read and review books while making new friends in the process. Weekly prizes will be awarded, along with a grand prize drawing held at the end of the nine-week program. Register between May 29 and July 6.

Branch Book Sale
Books, DVDs, and VHS tapes for sale. Proceeds benefit the Friends of Shelton Libraries. Free coffee and treats, as well as a 10 percent discount for Friends members.

Time: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Adult Summer Reading Club (ages 18 and over)
Participants will read books of their choice throughout the summer and complete a brief written review to share with fellow readers. Visit or call the circulation desk at 203 – 736-1482 to register.

SATURDAY JUNE 30

No Vet Left Behind’s 6th Annual Spring/Summer Veteran Standdown
Veterans and their immediate families will receive haircuts, clothing and food. Services will be provided to answer any questions regarding Social Security, Veteran Comp and Pen, funeral arrangements and more. To donate food, clothing and toiletries, or to volunteer, please call Mary Porter at (203) 906‑0533 or (203) 732‑7800 and leave your name and phone number for more information.

Friends of the Seymour Library Used Book Sale
The book sale is held on the last Saturday of each month, except holidays and July and August.

Midsummer Fantasy Renaissance Faire
JUNE 30 and JULY 1
Spend the day in an interactive fantasy world with elves, fairies, orcs, goblins and dwarves. Live shows, combat, unique artisans and food provided throughout the day. Attendees are encouraged to dress up as fantasy characters. This event will happen rain or shine.
Cost: $16 for adults
Location: Warsaw Park, 119 Pulaski Highway, Ansonia
Time: 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., plus nighttime shows on Saturdays until 9 p.m.

Chicken or Ribs Barbecue Dinner
Great Hill United Methodist is hosting a barbecue dinner. Menu includes choice of chicken or ribs, salad, baked beans, dessert and beverage. Guided Hikes (weather permitting)
Join a ranger for a Sunday afternoon hike through the park trails at the Ansonia Nature Center. Wear comfortable walking shoes, these hikes last about one hour. Registration is not necessary. These hikes are ideal for families and youth groups.
