Pounding the Pavement for Pink 5K

Seymour Pink’s 5K will begin on River Street in Seymour and follow a course that brings participants by the Seymour Historical Society and Seymour Public Library, ending at the Seymour Community Center.

Shelton Recreation Path Grand Opening
9:30 a.m.
Grand opening of the Shelton Lakes Recreation Path.
Ribbon cutting will be held near the Dog Park at 9:30 am, followed by a hike & bike at 11:00 am.
For the ribbon cutting, meet at the Dog Park (corner of Nells Rock Road & Shelton Ave).
Extra parking is available at Shelton Intermediate School across the street.
For the hike & bike, meet at Pine Lake, located on Shelton Avenue 0.2 miles northeast of Meadow Street.
Total length is 4 miles, ending in Huntington Center.
The Rec Path has a crushed stone surface 8 to 12 feet wide with some long but gradual hills.
Children and leashed dogs welcome.
Rides back to the starting point will be provided.
Hike & Bike raindate is Sunday at 1:00 pm.

Comfort Keepers of Shelton will be hosting a Stop Senior Hunger Food Drive outside Stop and Shop in Shelton at 898 Bridgeport Avenue.
They are accepting food donations or Stop and Shop gift cards.
This is a good cause because at least one in nine seniors are at risk of going hungry due to inability to obtain sufficient food for their household or having to choose between food and medical care.

The Second Annual Shelton Wheel/Walk-a-Thon promotes routine physical activity for people of all ages and abilities, and encourages Valley residents and business owners to realize how important events like this are as a catalyst to help people of all ages and abilities maintain routine physical activity.
Participation is a simple and inexpensive way to foster support for employee health and fitness and help show that anyone — regardless of age, ability and fitness level — can go for a comfortable walk or wheel.
The Wheel/Walk-a-Thon benefits a great cause — Spinal Cord Injury research, education and family support — and is a terrific start and an annual reminder for people of all abilities that making time for routine
physical activity and better nutrition is easier than you think!

The program, “A Visit with Lincoln,” will feature Steve Wood, who has won awards for his presidential portrayal.
