The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program helps defray cost of groceries and makes healthy and nutritious food more affordable. AARP and End Hunger CT! have joined forces to provide SNAP application assistance to older adults. Come and learn more about this program.

Pounding the Pavement For Pink 5K Race
9 a.m.
Seymour Pink, Inc. invites everyone to come out and support the second annual Pounding The Pavement For Pink 5k race this Saturday (Oct. 5) at 9 a.m. at the Seymour Community Center.
The growth of this race in one year is unprecedented and, in fact, the number of runners had to be capped at 1,500, which was reached last week.
As a result, there will be no same day registration.

Evening of fun and entertainment will begin with a preview of the baskets from 5 p.m. – 6 p.m.
During the preview hour, tickets are placed in the cup corresponding with any of the baskets; the baskets are given away starting at 6 p.m. Over 75 special theme baskets and door prizes will be handed out.
For the admission price of $15.00, hot and cold hors d’oeuvres, desserts, and beverage will be served and patrons will receive 25 free basket tickets, a door prize ticket and a grand prize ticket.
Children 10 years old and under have free admission. Basket themes include movie, travel, spa, handyman, entertaining, sports, kids, baby, pets, hobbies, cooking, seasonal, and many others.
This year’s Grand Prize Basket will include a wide variety of gift cards with an estimated $500 value.
Reservations are not required.
The church is located at the junction of Routes 188 and 334 in Seymour.

Third Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Shoot
10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
This is the 3rd annual charity photo shoot with 100 percent of the proceeds donated to the Griffin Hospital Development Fund for breast cancer as part of The Valley Goes Pink Campaign.
It is open for families, individuals, friends, groups, etc to attend.
What is happening: Each person donates a minimum of $5 and have photos snapped of yourself, your groups, etc. It is $5 per person in your group as well.
Each $5 will get a raffle ticket to win some prizes that will be donated.

The seventh annual “Made in Connecticut” Fair, sponsored by the Oxford Democratic Town Committee, will be held on Sunday, Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., RAIN OR SHINE.
The fair attracts residents and others from surrounding towns and cities located in Fairfield, New Haven and Litchfield counties and from New York State.
The tented patio area will offer coffee, tea, hot chocolate, danish in the morning hours and hot dogs, chips, soda and water beginning in the afternoon.
Admission is $3, kids under 12 get in for free
