FRIDAY Oct. 7
- FOOTBALL!: Ansonia vs. Holy Cross at Jarvis Stadium on Wakelee Avenue in Ansonia. Admission is $5. Game starts at 7 p.m. Click here for more details. Away games include: Derby at Wilby, 3:30 p.m., Seymour at Wolcott, 7 p.m.
- Turkey Dinner: The proceeds from the dinner will support missions and ministries of the First United Methodist Church in Shelton. The dinner will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at 188 Rocky Rest Road in Shelton. The cost is $15 for adults, $13 for seniors and free for children under 14. For more information call (203) 929‑3537.
SATURDAY Oct. 8
* Ansonia Harvest Festival: The annual Ansonia Harvest Festival sponsored by the Ansonia Rotary Club and the Ansonia Cultural Commission is rescheduled from Oct. 1 to this Saturday, Oct. 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Main Street. The event will include arts, crafts, food vendors, contests and entertainment, including bands and strolling bands, singers and dancers. Click here for more information.
- Oxford High School Pancake Breakfast: The Oxford High School boys soccer team hosts a pancake breakfast in support of the team. Breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee. Cost is $5 per person, ages 2 and under are free. The event is at Oxford High School at 61 Quaker Farms Road.
- Freedom Fund Dinner: The Ansonia Branch of the NAACP hosts the 24th Freedom Fund Dinner starting at 5:30 p.m. at John J. Sullivan’s, 557 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. Keynote speaker is The Rev. Kenneth Moales Jr., Prayer Tabernacle Church of Love, Bridgeport. Honorees: Sherrod McNeill, Education; The Tinney Family and Sharyn Grant, Community Service; Montrell Dobbs, Student of the Year/Scholarship Awardee. For tickets call 203 – 732-7718.
- Derby Neck Library Booksale: Sponsored by the Friends of Derby Neck Library. Free admission. The sale runs from 1 to 4 p.m. at the library at 307 Hawthorne Ave. Derby.
- Shelton High School Reunion: The Shelton High School class of 1981 will host its 30 year reunion from 6 to 11 p.m. at the Inn at Villa Bianca in Seymour. Click here for more information.
SUNDAY Oct. 9
- Sunset Run For the Warriors: The run was rescheduled to Oct. 9 because of Hurricane Irene. The race will be held at 3:15 p.m. starting at the Huntington Green on Church Street. The 10K run and one-mile walk honors those injured while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Click here for more information.
- Car & Truck Show: Emmett O’Brien’s annual car and truck show will be held at 9 a.m. at the high school at 141 Prindle Ave. in Ansonia. Cars, trucks, food and entertainment. Free admission.
- Learn To Speak Dog: Join dog trainer Peg Demaine at the Shelton Dog Park for an informal, fun learning session to better understand your dog. Free admission. The event runs from 2 to 3 p.m. The Shelton dog park is located at the corner of Nell’s Rock Road and Shelton Avenue.
