THINGS TO DO THIS WEEKEND

With the holiday season upon us, there are lots of festivals and food drives in the Valley this weekend. 

Read on for information on those, and more activities. 

FRIDAY, Nov. 18

  • Seymour Trunk Or Treat Seymour will celebrate its Halloween trick or treating event at the Seymour Middle School at 211 Mountain Road from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday. Set-up time is from 4 to 5:45. SATURDAY, Nov. 19

  • Ansonia Police Stuff A Jeep’ Help the Ansonia police department collect food and cash donations to benefit two local food banks. Members of the department will be at the Ansonia Stop & Shop from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.

  • Cookie Express Christmas Fair The Church of the Good Shepherd on Coram Avenue in Shelton will host a Christmas Fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the church. The event features vendors, book sale, baked goods and raffles.
  • Friends of the Shelton Dog Park Work Party The Friends will be hosting monthly work parties where volunteers come together to spread mulch, clean up, plant flowers and more! The next work party will be held on Saturday, November 19th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Let us know if you can help on the day! Click here for more details. 
  • Book Sale The Friends of the Oxford Library Will host a book sale at the Oxford Town Hall meeting room from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Click here for more information.
  • Festival of Trees The 8th annual Festival of Trees and Wesley Village Craft Fair will be held on Nov. 19 and 20, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Wesley Village in Shelton at 580 Long Hill Ave. The even benefits Valley Interfaith Caregivers at TEAM and activity programs for seniors at Wesley Village.
  • Trash To Treasure The Plumb Memorial Library at 65 Wooster St. in Shelton will host a craft program using recycled items. For children 3 and older with care givers. Registration required. For more information call 203 – 924-9461.
  • Eco Art for Kids The Derby Public Library will host a program for children 7 to 11 years old, where they can create art projects with recycled magazines and junk mail. Registration required. The program is at 10 a.m. at the library at 313 Elizabeth St.

SUNDAY, Nov 20

  • Ziti Dinner To Benefit Ansonia Firefighter Charters Hose Co. will host a benefit dinner for the family of Jeffrey Foster, who died from cancer on Nov. 3. The dinner will run from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the St. Sebastian Club on Father Salemi Drive. The cost is a $10 donation.   • Thanksgiving Dinner: The Greater Valley Salvation Army, Living Hope Church and the Bridgeport Rescue Mission will host a free Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday Nov. 20. The event will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Salvation Army Mission at 26 Lester St. in Ansonia.
