Third Annual ‘SantaCon’ Was Saturday In Derby

MarkAnthony Izzo of Derby passed along the following photo from the Dec. 7 SantaCon” that graced the streets of Derby.

The event, organized by the folks at Whiskey’s on Main Street and Bar None on Elizabeth Street, encouraged people to dress in holiday garb while having a night out on the town.

But it wasn’t all about a good time. To participate, people were encouraged to donate a toy at Whiskey’s. Those toys will be donated to the Yale Children’s Hospital in New Haven.

When a child is brought to Yale for medical treatment, he or she is usually offered a toy to keep busy while in the emergency department. Kids have the option of choosing a toy when they are released from the hospital as well.

At about 10:45 p.m. the revelers walked up Derby’s Main Street from Whiskey’s to Elizabeth Street.

Izzo was able to capture some of the elusive revelers.

A group of Merry Souls” stopped for a photo op in front of the Elks Lodge including the Mayor of Who-Ville.” From the smiles on their faces and although cold it appeared a good time was had by all and soon many smiles will be upon some happy children’s faces,” Izzo wrote in an e‑mail.
