100 Years Ago This Week:

ANSONIAThe eagle, which guards the destiny of the Eagle Hose house from his perch above the roof, has emerged from a several weeks’ stay in the repair shop and has again been placed in position. The big bird has been freshly gilded and its wings, which were broken off in a storm some time ago, mended. The bird is known as the Blackman war eagle” having been made during the time of the Civil War, and for years was stationed over the old Blackman building on Main Street.”
