
ANSONIA – The Ansonia Police Department announced that three people were arrested in Bridgeport on Saturday afternoon (Aug. 31) in connection to a report of shots fired in Ansonia.
In a press release, police said they responded at 4:07 p.m. to a report of shots fired on Fourth Street near Main Street in Ansonia. The suspected individuals had fled by the time officers arrived.
No one was injured and no property was damaged, according to the press release. A shell casing and an unspent round were found nearby.
Police identified a gray Dodge Caliber as the suspect vehicle and sent out a statewide alert. Bridgeport police located it and found three occupants inside as well as a handgun.
Bridgeport police arrested three people in vehicle.They were identified as Claude Perry, 30, of Ansonia, Edward Rumley, 32, of Waterbury, and Chantel Carter, 38, of New Haven.
The three were each charged with carrying a pistol without a permit and having weapons in a motor vehicle, according to Ansonia Police Lieutenant Patrick Lynch. Rumley and Perry were also charged with criminal possession of a firearm and illegal transfer/purchase of a firearm.
Lynch said that none of the three individuals would claim ownership of the gun inside the car. He said the investigation into the shots fired in Ansonia is ongoing, and that he expects at least one more arrest to be made.
