Derby authorities had their hands full Thursday morning with three accidents in 42 minutes on Route 34 in the area of North Avenue.
Police said the first crash happened at 7:01 a.m. just prior to the curve on Route 34 in front of the former Derby Cellular Products building.
A driver lost control of a vehicle and struck a second vehicle, police said. One person was taken to the hospital for injuries, police said.
Police said they did not know the extent of the person’s injuries.
“It was determined, icy roadway conditions had formed in this area, and may have contributed to the accident. DOT was called out to sand the roadway,” Lt. Sal Frosceno said.
While police were investigating the crash, two more accidents happened on Route 34, police said. Those occurred at 7:12 a.m. and 7:43 a.m.
No injuries were reported. Major traffic tie ups were reported as a result of the crashes.
