There have been nine bomb threats at Valley schools since the end of October. Five students have been arrested, and Seymour police have two additional warrants to arrest two others. No names have been released because the students have all been minors.
Most of the incidents have involved notes found in girls’ bathrooms. The only students who have been arrested so far have been female students.
Date: Oct. 21
Place: Shelton High School
Situation: The first in a series of bomb threats, this one came in the form of a note mentioning a bomb threat. School was dismissed early. A 16-year-old and 17-year-old were charged with falsely reporting an incident, conspiracy to falsely report an incident and breach of peace. They have been expelled from school.
Date: Oct. 22
Place: Shelton Intermediate School
Situation: A note mentioning a bomb threat was found written on a wall just before noon. The building was evacuated while police investigated. The threat was determined to be a hoax. Police continue to investigate that incident, and have not made any arrests for it yet.
Date: Oct. 28
Place: Shelton Intermediate School
Situation: Another note was found at the school. School officials and police were able to quickly determine the student who wrote the note and that it was a false statement. Police charged a 12-year-old female student with falsely reporting an incident, and breach of peace.
Date: Nov. 5
Place: Seymour High School
Situation: A note, with a more specific threat, was found in a girls’ bathroom. Police put the school on lock-down and searched the building. The department has applied for two arrest warrants for the incident, and expects to arrest two female students soon.

Place: Seymour High School
Situation: A note was written on a bathroom mirror in a ladies room at the high school. The note was less credible, and the building was not evacuated. Police have arrested a female student.
Date: Nov. 11
Place: Shelton High School
Situation: While the school prepared for a Veterans Day ceremony, another note on a bathroom wall was found, indicated a bomb threat. Students were removed from the school, and waited outside for several hours while the building was cleared. Police determined the threat was a hoax. No arrests have been made yet. Place: Seymour Middle School
Situation: A note was found in a girls’ bathroom indicating there may be a bomb in the school. Police found nothing. By the end of the day, a female student had been charged with falsely reporting an incident. Click here to read the Valley Indy coverage of the threat.

Place: Seymour Middle School
Situation: A note was found written on a girls’ bathroom stall. Police removed students from the school, and investigated. Nothing was found. By noon, students were returned to the building. Police continue to investigate. No arrests have been made yet.

Situation: A suspicious note mentioning a threat against the school, and a school air conditioner, was found in the building. The high school was evacuated, but the threat was found to be false and the students were returned to the building. No arrests have been made yet.
