Tingue Dam Bypass Project Informational Meeting

There will be an Informational Meeting about the Tingue Dam Fish Bypass and associated park for the Town of Seymour, Connecticut on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 7 p.m. in the Norma Drummer Room at Seymour Town Hall at 1 First Street.

Federal representatives from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and state staff from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection will make a presentation on the long-awaited project and answer any questions attendees may have.

The bypass will immediately restore access to 32 miles of essential habitat for spawning, and juvenile rearing and growth of American shad, blueback herring, alewife and American eel, for species of regional and national significance.

The Tingue Bypass Project will also include a park that is designed for viewing fish runs and providing access to the Naugatuck River.

As part of this project, the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection is providing funding to the Town of Seymour to replace the old skate park that currently sits in the path of the proposed bypass.

That new skate park will be located in another section of town — near the town’s community center.

All interested persons are encouraged to attend this informational meeting.
