Train Stopped For 90 Minutes

Update At 9:54 a.m., work on the train stopped and it left the Ansonia train station, heading north.

Initial story

At about 7:30 a.m., a Metro North train broke down at the Ansonia station.

There was a problem with the train’s air compression system, which made the brakes lock up, according to DAn Brucker, a spokesperson for MTA.

Passengers are being re-routed on buses this morning.

Brucker said the compression system makes the brakes work, but when there’s an air pressure problem the brakes lock up as a safety precaution.

That train wasn’t going anywhere,” Brucker said. All the brakes were locked tight.”

Brucker said the bus service should emulate the timing of the trains, so there won’t be a delay on the Waterbury line.

There are still 10 to 15 minute delays from a wire-damage problem on the New Haven line this morning, according to WTNH.
