SHELTON — Two brothers from Shelton were arrested in connection to a street robbery that happened in December, according to a prepared statement from police.
Eliezer Reyes, 19, Jose Reyes, 18, and an unidentified underage accomplice were charged Feb. 10, police said.
On that date police received a report of a group kicking and punching a man on the ground in the area of Coram Avenue and White Street. The victim told police that his backpack, containing all of his personal possessions, was stolen during the attack.
The victim was taken to the hospital. Police were not able to find the group immediately after the attack.
However, according to Detective Chris Nugent, the victim was able to identify one of the attackers. Police were also able to locate the backpack. Police were able to build a case and establish probable cause to obtain arrest warrants.
The juvenile was charged in January with second-degree assault, second-degree robbery, and sixth-degree larceny. Court proceedings and arrest information involving juveniles are not public.
The Reyes brothers are now charged with second-degree assault, second-degree robbery, and sixth-degree larceny. They are scheduled to appear in court today (Thursday, Feb. 11).
