Troop 3 Hosts Scouts From England

Twenty one scouts and leaders from the 107th Scouts and Explorers from Derby, England are being hosted by the scouting families of Troop 3 Derby as part of a Scouting world friendship program. 

The English group arrived at the Derby Train Station and were greeted by Troop 3 along with Mayor Anthony Staffieri.

Following a procession to the Derby 2nd Congregational Church, the scouts played their favorite outdoor games and then enjoyed a macaroni and meatball dinner prepared by former Mayor Marc Garofalo. The City of Derby reserved a viewing spot so all could enjoy the Derby-Shelton fireworks display on July 3rd, and the group also experienced a day at Six Flags New England amusement park.

In addition to numerous activities with Troop 3 host families, the group was treated to a traditional family picnic courtesy of Mike & Cyndi Tracz. The two scout groups also participated in a religious service at Troop 3’s sponsoring organization, the Derby, 2nd Congregational Church before heading to Housatonic Council BSAs Edmund D. Strang Scout Reservation, in Goshen, where they are currently enjoying a week of camping, aquatics, scout craft and shooting sports.

Troop 3 Scoutmaster Randy Ritter and Assistant Scoutmasters Chris Cafaro and Tyler Stankye are leading the following Troop 3 scouts for the week: Matt Edwards, Ryan Cafaro, Ben Grasso, Adam Sroka, Brandon Kling, Joshua Moscato, Justin Patten, Zach Thomas, Naveen Madivala, Steve Tracz, Matt Moran, Julian Gilloren, Anthony Bartholomew, Jim Butler, Louie Ritchitelli, Elliot Moscato, Matt Cafaro, Colby Mcliverty, Jason Edwards, Thomas Robertson, Jayson Hutchinson, James Cobaugh, Matt Main and Vin Fazzino.

The 107th Derby, England group includes Scout Leaders Stuart Cooke, Jo Cooke, Craig Morris, Karl Griffiths and Susan Griffiths, as well as scouts Luke Brady, James Withey, Sam Brooks, Alex Griffiths, Ashley Griffiths, George Cooke, Lilly Cooke, Calum Ogilvie, Tim Moss, Alex Coles, Joseph Hollingworth, Chris Turley, Kieran Cambell, Jack Robinson, Billy Walker, and sibiling Daisy Cooke. The English group departs on July 13th. 

Troop 3 has been invited to visit Derby, England in 2015 to participate in an international Scouting encampment at Chatsworth House, hosted by the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire.
