A truck driver from Maine was issued a ticket for following too closely after crashing into a utility pole on Roosevelt Drive in Seymour Tuesday morning.
The crash happened at about 7 a.m.
There were no injuries but the road was closed for four hours as crews made repairs to the pole and downed wires.
Traffic was diverted onto Punkup Road. Driving that road isn’t a walk in the park.
As of 12:23 p.m. one lane of the two-lane road was open. Seymour police were still on the scene for traffic control.
Lt. Paul Satkowski said the crash happened when a motorist traveling east slowed down to turn into Dunkin Donuts.
A tractor-trailer heading in the same direction swerved off the road to avoid hitting the stopped cars. He hit a utility pole, breaking it.
The truck wasn’t operational after the crash, which caused extensive delays during the Tuesday morning rush hour.
The Dunkin Donuts is at 356 Roosevelt Drive.
