No one was injured after a box truck rolled into the front door of Grant’s House of Bones BBQ on Route 34 in Derby Tuesday morning.

Members of the fire department were sent to the popular barbecue joint (formerly called Smoke ‘n Bones) about 9:15 a.m.
No one was inside the truck, belonging to a furniture store, when it rolled into the building.
“There’s no emergency and the building is fine,” said David Lenart, an assistant chief with the Derby Fire Department.
House of Bones owner Mike Grant said the truck driver is a regular at the restaurant and had stopped in to place an order.
“We were saying hi and all of the sudden we hear an explosion,” Grant said.
That was the box truck smashing into the building. The impact broke the glass front door and damaged the brick wall.
Four people were inside House of Bones during the accident, along with two additional people inside Crystal Cleaners, a dry cleaning business next door.
Derby Building Official Carlo Sarmiento was inspecting the damage with Derby contractor Frank Pepe at 9:30 a.m.

It was unclear whether any tickets were issued and it wasn’t clear precisely why the truck rolled.
