Update Dec. 16: Police said in a prepared statement that a Shelton woman injured after a car struck her Tuesday was released from the hospital.
The woman’s 10-year-old daughter, who was also injured in the accident, was held overnight for evaluation, police said. Her condition was listed as stable.

A woman and a 10-year-old girl were hospitalized Tuesday after being struck by a vehicle in Shelton.
The accident happened about 5 p.m. at the intersection of Coram Avenue and Hill Street, Shelton Police Detective Christopher Nugent said in a prepared statement.
Cops and EMS responded to the scene and found a 46-year-old woman and a 10-year-old girl who had been injured.
The statement did not say whether the two victims are related, but said both were from Shelton.
They were taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital for treatment. Police did not release information on their condition.
Nugent’s statement also said police “have spoken to” the driver of the car, a 66-year-old Seymour woman.
The accident is being investigated by the police department’s traffic division.
